The project covers wood restoration, engine service, electrical cleanup, hull inspection, and a full operational reset in Club Nautic Portocolom between May 8 and May 15, 2026.
MAGO is a classic Mallorcan Llaüt from Astilleros Mahon in Menorca with a solid GRP structure, double casco, traditional wooden superstructure, and a Sole Diesel MINI 26 engine with roughly 2,670 operating hours. The restoration is designed to prepare the boat cleanly for the 2026 season without outsourcing the whole job.
The wood package is the most demanding part: bow, railing, cockpit surfaces, and companionway doors have weathered over winter and require a full sanding sequence, Owatrol D1 saturation, and final D1/D2 UV protection. The doors go to a carpenter, while the remaining surfaces are handled on site.
The engine work centers on a scheduled service: oil change with 15W-40, impeller replacement, diesel filter replacement, and checks on belts and cooling. Because there is oil contamination in the engine bay, this part may involve a mechanic if needed.
Inside the boat, exposed cabling must be secured and rerouted professionally, followed by a full check of the 12V system, lighting, and bilge pump. Outside, the hull gets a full GRP clean, gelcoat crack inspection, and special attention around the waterline and underwater body.
The final phase covers cockpit and interior cleaning, inventory checks, stowing new equipment deliveries, and a first sea trial once all systems are back in order. In parallel, the RYA Powerboat Level 2 exam on May 13 and 14 supports the next licensing step toward the ICC.
